What's the difference between Astronomy and Astrophysics? Judging by the names, my guess would be: Astrophysics: Study of the physics and structure of the sky and what it contains (planets, etc). Astronomy: General study of the sky, planets, etc and general behaviour of it without going too deeply into the physical make-up of it.

Why can't people understand that Astronomy and astrology are two completely different things? Astronomy is a REAL SCIENCE that studies outer space and celestial objects in outer space. Astrology is made up trash for the sole purpose of cheating people out of their money by telling them things they wish to hear and then making them pay for the pretty words. There is no real science what so ever with astrology. Why can't the astrology people stay in their ENTERTAINMENT section under Horoscopes and quit giving wrong answers for the real Astronomy questions? Why?

Astronomers and those interested in astronomy, do you believe in God, and how has the cosmos affected beliefs? I am studying and collecting books from the 17th, 18th, and 19th century on Astronomy and religion is very much part of the thought process of scientists in those centuries. It is no longer the fashion or backbone of cosmology today, and I wonder why. Any ideas? I would like to hear from people who do not believe in God as well. I respect everyones viewpoint. As an astronomer I cannot imagine the grand Universe without creation yet it may be without a beginning too. There are some amazing scriptures in the Bible about the heavens that have proven to be accurate thousands of years later with science. Yet now, scientists rarely speak of God. I wonder........ For example: John chapter one... In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. 4 For in him was life, and the life was the light of men. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. 6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. 7 He came as a witness, to bear witness about the light, that all might believe through him. 8 He was not the light, but came to bear witness about the light. 9 The true light, which enlightens everyone, was coming into the world. 10 He was in the world, and the world was made through him, yet the world did not know him. tsr21 I am on no medication, and have 3 degrees, and have no trouble learning the history of astronomy knowledge. One cannot ignore religion and its influence on modern thinking. The first astronomers believed.
Where can I find an Astronomy Log Sheet? I have searched the internet for an example of a log sheet for astronomy, but I can not find one. Does anyone know of a website that I can find one?
