What is mathematics and computer science? Hi, Mathematics and computer science are not natural sciences, applied sciences (technology) or social sciences. So, what kind of sciences are they? I found out that they may belong to constructive sciences or formal science but I am not sure. PLEASE DO NOT ANSWER WITH LINKS. Thanks.
How can we raise science literacy in the United States? It's purely antecdotal but it feels like the amount of science literacy has gotten worse in recent years. What can we do to reverse that trend? Should we throw money at it? Give incentives to schools that do well in science? Make the standardized tests harder? More scholarships for science majors? Start a new PR campaign that makes science cool? Have the government appoint someone as a Science Ambassador? What do you think would work best?
What Science Category does my science fair project idea fit in? I'm going to do a project based on what type of glue will work the best on different materials. How do i get good marks in science even when i hate it? I hate science. My primary and secondary school teachers have never made me interested in it. It is always confusing and they always deduct so many marks for using a wrong word and u have to explain every detail even for a one mark question. U also need to aply wht u learn and i am bad at that. I always get low marks for science. There is sooooo much memorising to do!!! I hate it yet i want to do well in it. Many pple say tht math and science are related. I love math but hate science. How can it be so? I normally get A+ for math. Any science teachers or excellent science students can help me?

What is the best science course to take for non-majors in your mind? I typically am really bored of science, I think it totally useless for my life. For instance I don't care what the density of mercury is, or how many moons Jupiter has, none of those things affect my daily life. By course, I mean like Chemistry, Biology or Microbiology, Physics, Earth Science, etc. I have almost graduated from my sophomore year of college I just need a science class.
What is a good science experiment to do for my college class? I have to do a little experiment with all the good stuff: hypothesesis, experiment, conclusion etc etc. What would be a good experiment to do? It doesnt have to be a major full on science experiment, this science class is for people not majoring in science. Any ideas?
How important is a strong science education to indian parents ? how important is a strong science education to indian parents ? science allows you to do very real world things. very practical things. unlike opinion, which is only good for conversation. science teaches you real world master. not just a lot of opinions and conversations.

Is science diet just as good? When I've had cat problems in the past, science diet has always been the cure all. Do you think its as good as EVO? Or will it be a good balanced diet for my kitten ?
Are science and religion in conflict or is there a compromise? I think Science and religion can stregthen each other, for example, Evolution theory and creation theory can go hand in hand. While Christian accounts give the outline of how God created the world, science tells exactly how it was done. "Science without religion is lame, religion without science is blind" - Albert Einstein.
What science should I take senior year? I am a highshcool junior & I have straight A's. I am getting scheduled for my senior year, but am unsure about what science to take next year. What are the relevants of soil science to agribusiness management? The answers can best be obtained from the scope of agricultural science, and around twenty good answers are expected, as regards this question. The question simply is asking for the importances of the knowledge of soil science to the department of agribusiness management, concerned with marketing agricultural produce. For example, the knowledge of soil science tell us that in the soil are micro-organisms which aerate the soil, promoting vigorous plant growth, whose products are marketed by the agribusiness department and this boosts the sector of the agribusiness management, promoting it.
How does science and architecture work without the metric system? Do architects scientists etc. of Britain and the US actually use the imperial system? Thats hard to believe. How did people do science and developing before the metric system was invented? I cant imagine that because the imperial system which is still used in the States and Britain is so stupid.

How to setup a Science lab for a preschooler in home ? I have a basement and I would like to setup a mini science lab for my 4 yr old. Nothing outlandish, I would basically like to setup a play area for her where she can play with sand, water, do some mini science experiments with everyday objects but not making the basement too messy. How can I setup one without making it a construction project using concrete etc... Thanks for your suggestions
I want to study science in the evenings but there isnt a course in london. What can I do? I have looked on the internet for courses in universities but no luck. My local authority is undersubscribed so wont run the course. Open university is too expensive. Maybe somebody can suggest a good starter book for me to study all the main aspects of science - physics, chemistry and biology. I cant believe the government are complaining that this country has a low admission rate for science courses. I really would love to study but really can not find a suitable course. I am older and cant really give up work due to financial commitments. Surely there is some sort of course for people like me! Maybe I will have to save up for the open university.
Is Computer Science considred a quantitative major for finance jobs? I want to work in investment banking/ finance after college, and was wondering if Computer Science would be a good quantitative major for an undergraduate degree. Ultimately, I want to get an MBA right after or at least a Masters of Finance degree before I start working.
How do Christians reconcile science with their faith? We all know that there are scientific findings that contradict the literal word of the Bible. We also know that there are Christians out there that just ignore anything contradictory that science has to say. I am interested in hearing from Christians who do not reject science, and how they do not let this get in the way of God. Do you take the entire Bible as symbolism? Do you only take those parts described differently by science as symbolism, and the rest literally? How do you respond to accusations that you are not a true Christian for trusting in what science has to offer? Is there anything that you think is wrong with, or reject, from either science or organized Christianity? Please no lectures on either the Biblical or scientific creed; I am already very familiar with both. This is something I am genuinely curious about: serious and thoughtful answers only. Arctic storm: I do not have any "qualms" with the Bible. I am not a Christian, but I do not question that the Bible is the truth Christians--I am not going to criticize it. I am one of those who believes that faith is being able to believe even when you have no concrete, literal reason to. I do not feel this within myself, but certainly others do. More often I find Bible-believers who have qualms with science. They accept it when it does not contradict the Bible, or otherwise serves them (such as in preventative medicine, leisure technology, etc.), but reject it when it makes them uncomfortable or confuses them. The "classic" example is evolution. Many people act as though the theory of evolution is somehow an anomoly in science, as though it is seperate and apart from it, run by a group of crazed wackos. Yet, the data that supports evolution was gathered using the exact same scientific method that other data in more "trusted" science was. edward l: You are absolutely right, and that is because science is not MEANT to discover anything beyond what is physically real in earth in space: I think that is a common misunderstanding with science. It is used as a tool to find NATURAL explanations for NATURAL phenomena. There are those who choose to go a step further and believe that God is behind the natural explanations, but that is beyond the scope of science. shmurfee68: You don't have to be defensive; I am not trying to criticize Christians. I am asking a question of Christians who do not reject science. If you do reject science, then you do not have to answer the question--I will not judge you. Iridium190: I disagree with the notion that evolution is "bad science" (you may want to read some books by people who are not proponents of Intelligent Design), but I thank you for your very thorough and honest answer. I enjoyed reading it. Hippoterry2005: 1) It is beyond the scope of science to prove or disprove God. The goal of science is to find natural explanations for natural phenomena, not to say whether God caused it all or not. Any hypothesis trying to prove/disprove the existence of God is unfalsifiable, and is therefore bad science. 2) Atheism is not a faith or a religion. Faith is believing in something even when there is no physical evidence to prove it. An atheist may believe that their football team is going to win the Superbowl even though they've lost every game, but to say they have spiritual faith is wrong--they do not believe in something spiritual, therefore they do not have spiritual faith. 3) You do not have to be a liar, crazy, or right. Why do you insist on making these artifical distinctions? Could it be that you are sincere, but mistaken? 4) Thank you for your honest response. I appreciate it, although you might not believe it from my response. I like to play devil's advocate. }:)
Why is it important to understand the role of science in environmental issue? There have been misconceptions of science/scientific fact or through the use of technology in regards to the approaches they have used towards the environment. Why should those in particular 'green' lobby groups, stakeholders, and the community in general who are often opposing developments" have to understand the significance of science in environmental controversies? On what ground does science have to be understood by those who oppose it. Is it so those who oppose technological development at the expense of the environment need to take science into account and understand this knowledge then to use it to refute those scientist?
What are some simple science experiments I can conduct at home? Hi! I am a young man who never really excelled at much whilst at school. Since I'm now a bit older, however, I've taken a real interest in science. I'd love to try out some simple and straight-forward physics and chemistry experiments in my own home, using domestic equipment (or cheap and easily-obtainable science equipment). What can you suggest, and why? Thanks!
What is a nice science fair project for 4th grade? These are the guidelines for 4th grade: This can include any aspect of the physical sciences but could be extended to include people, plants, and animals in the home. Remember safety aspects of physical science including never mixing chemicals without checking with an adult, wearing goggles, reading labels, and using batteries for power.

What can you do when you are drawn to both science and humanities? I need to decide on what to major in and get my schedule done but I still can't decide. I like sciences (biology, physics, and math) and I like humanities and social sciences (anthropology, English, classics, and political science) and I just don't know what to do. Is there something that combines science and humanities? I would really like to have a career with just a BS or BA even if it is always entry level, I just want to enjoy my classes.
What science career should I go into? I'm starting to think about my furute and next year I'm going to be going to university but how do I choose what science career I want to go into? I've always loved science but I need to narrow it down and I can't choose the area I want to go into. Have any imformation about different sciences that could help me?
What can be done to encourage science-types to become teachers? I teach at a state college that has a strong education department, mostly elementary ed. In my state, you cannot *major* in education, you have to pick an ordinary major or an interdisciplinary one. The vast majority of education students major in something other than science (or math, for that matter). For example, for incoming freshmen, there are 41 who are doing an interdisciplinary major, and *none* of those are in the sciences (there is an interdisciplinary science major). Why is there such a disparity? Why don't kids who like science go into teaching? Or, why do kids who go into teaching not like science? And what can be done to get more science-types to go into teaching, besides obvious things like increase teachers saleries.
Any science magazines or websites that delivers the latest news? Hi, as I am in first common year in science, I'd like to explore the diversity of the science world before getting into any majors in my 2nd year. Are there any good science magazines or websites that delivers the latest scientific news about the recent world and gives prediction for future aspect as well? I need to search for sources to help decide my major of which I'd be interested in and be well-prepared for the career in future. Thanks.
What are some of the good science fair subjects? I want an experiment concerning physical science, mathematics, computer science, and energy, all mixed up together; I want an experiment that includes all these subjects Will you give more info about change of energy and generator?
What type of science would photography be? I have to identify what type of science is photography for my little project for school. My project consists of experimenting with the angles, shadows, and position of my camera to receive different shadows, effects, etc. Help PLease! Is it just photography itself or something totally different?
Do you think science should teach the Earths age according to the what the bible states? Do we simply dismiss anything that might disagree with the bibles teachings when it comes to the Science field? This is being debated in Florida and I feel as though I'm living in a fairy tale. I understand what each and every one of you are saying and agree, however this is not just happening in Florida. I by no means am against the Bible but in my opinion it should not be taught side by side in a Science class.
How does a science technician work safely in the Lab? How does a science technician work safely in the Lab? Where can I find an elementary science curriculum placement test? How can I pace my 6 year old? My son is homeschooled and all his curriculum is 2nd or 3rd grade except for science. He is 6 years old and flying through the textbooks. We are finishing up his 1st grade science book as he quickly learned all the concepts (I didn't want to skip 1st grade science, as it has essential concepts like "matter" and "friction" that are a foundation for higher grades.) Keep in mind that we have gone through this book in 4 weeks. He is literally begging me to give him something more interesting. He selects books from the library about machinary, volcanoes, hurricanes, cells, anatomy, etc. He always wants to go deeper. I am concerned about buying a 2nd grade science curriculum because it is EXPENSIVE and I don't want to have to buy yet another book in two months. Does anyone have suggestions for what I can do to make sure my son gets all the essential vocabulary and topics covered yet feed his seemingly unending thirst for science? Any good placement tests out there?
How does science turn into technology? I am in need of help on my assignment. Science means state of knowing or foundation of knowledge and technology means applied science. Now, how does science turn into technology?
What can scientists and science advocates do to educate creationists? The problem seems to grow and grow. When parents begin lobbying that religious beliefs be taught in science classrooms you have to admit the system is failing (has failed) somewhere. It also seems that these people have convinced themselves that creation is true and evolution is false. Not only this they display a fundamental misunderstanding of what evolution really is, lumping things like the big bang into the theory along with statements like "man came from monkeys." It also seems that they are mostly unwilling to accept an actual education on the subject. How can we educate those who need it so badly?
How do i donate my ears to science after i have passed away? A friend of mine has passed away this morning. She has been deaf for years and received an operation many years ago so that she could hear with bilateral hearing aids. She would like to have her hearing donated to science so that others could benefit from her misfortune.
What do these five sports have to do with science? I already know a few things about why they have to do with science, when I say science I'm talking about Mechanical Advantage and Efficiency, things like velocity, levers(first class, second class, third class), friction, simple machines(pulley, gear, wheel etc...) and many more. Anyway, here are the sports: Diving (diving board- second class lever) Hockey (hockey stick-third class lever) Biking ( friction and wind resistance) Running (friction or traction) Tennis (racket-third class lever) Please use some scientific words, but easy enough for me to understand. Also, explain how and why they have to do with science.
Science question from an ignorant science person: What kind of molecules does radiation have? Before you answer, please keep in mind that I haven't taken a science course since grade 10 (almost 10 years ago). I know that there are three types of molecules: gaseous, liquid, and solid. Gas can seep through, say, windows, you're going to need quite a bit of PSI to get liquid through, and obviously, you can't get solid through. So that got me thinking: how does radiation seep through if it's not a gas? Is it more of a greenhouse concept? Please help me understand this. Thanks in advance.
