How true to reality are some pictures of our solar system and neighboring galaxies? I know that there are a few pictures of nebulae and galaxies that are computer enhanced compositions of the visible and non-visible light spectrum but how about pictures of Jupiter or Saturn and etc? How much of the picture is, well let's say, as if I took it myself with a regular digital camera? Are some of our solar system pics enhanced and by what degree and for what reason? Thanks.

What do you call a fear of the solar system? YES I am scared of the solar system. I don't know why, its just whenever I look at pictures of the solar system I just wanna- ugh..
videos or pictures about the solar system(planets/stars/galaxy) ? Can anyone give me links for pictures or videos of planets stars glaxies..etc Thanx a load.. ( i prefer if it doesn't have any writing on it.. TY )
how do the planets in our solar system orbit the sun? i was wondering because, all the pictures of the solar system show the planets travelling on parralell routes all along the same angle from the sun... can anyone find a picture of the planets in a 3d environment please?
Is Pluto still a planet of the solar system? I heard news that Pluto isn't a planet of the solar system anymoe. Voyager took pictures and the pictures rather looked like a comet with a small rock revolving around it. And, because of Pluto's extremely elliptical orbit, they say the Pluto is a comet rather than a Planet. That reduces the number of the Solar System's planets to 8. Do you think that is true?
Can any one provide me the web link to the picture of Solar system drawn to actual scale ? Distances are more important to me than the Sizes of the planets.
Where can i see picture's of the planets not from our solar system and see what's like on the surface? I love to see pictures from outer space, but i only see planets from our solar system. I cant find any websites where they show different kind planets and how it looks like on the surface. Anything like that, but if there isnt then what have *they* been looking at the whole time??
What does our solar system look like? I've seen plenty of pictures of all the planets in our solar system lined up next to the sun, but there's no way it's like that. Can anyone provide a link that shows realistic orbit paths for the planets?
Where can I get a picture of our solar system planets to scale? im doing this prject in school could you look for a picture like SUN->->-> going that direction Thanks first person best answer 100 %
Is the Solar System dark or bright? Because the sun is in the Solar System and the sun apears bright to the earth and why not to the Solar System and in most of the pictures of Solar System, the Solar System is dark.
what scientific model can i make for my science class that cant be observed on earth and isnt the solar system? im in 10th grade in physical science, my teacher has asked me to make a model of something that cant be observed from earth but is not the solar system or a cell, she has told us to be original, what type of model do you think i should make that cant be observed on earth because it is either too large or too small? i don't have to make to make it 3D just print pictures and write a paper on it. Helpp thank you!
If our solar system is situated within the milkyway, how are we able to photograph the milkyway? I always see pictures of the milkyway, often times with a little arrow pointing to a tiny blue dot, which represents the Earth. Now, these pictures are obviously digital and non-animated or illustrated... Ok, back to my question: If Earth, and our solar system is INSIDE the milkyway, how are we able to take a picture of the entire galaxy...when being inside it? Do we have photographic satalites that can travel beyond our solar system and transmit pictures back to Earth? Ok, here's an analogy: The milkyway is represented by a glass of milk (clever, eh?) and the solar systems is represented by the milk (which is contained by the glass.) Since we're our the milk, how are we able to take a picture of the glass? I'm 15 so please excuse my retardation. I'm barely passed puberty. ; )
what object in our solar system is pictured below? http://mail.colonial.net/~rpavlik/pavlikweb/qotw.htm
Is our solar system flat like a frisbee or round like a ball? In the pictures I've seen its flat like a frisbee but how would it make sense that all the planets just line up perfectly?
What does "The Bible" and a Picture of our "Solar System" share in common? take your time analyzing this question... think hard about it... and hopefully you will see the similarities between the two maybe... maybe not... goodluck
Any ideas for my science project on the solar system? I have to put important info of each major celestial body in our solar system on cue cards and I was wondering if anyone had any creative ideas... Each index card has to have a picture, and important info or facts. It can be made on the computer or written and I have to do all the planets AND pluto
When will the next comet pass the solar system and be VERY visible to the naked eye? My husband saw, and got great pictures of Hale - Bopp, since then we married and have a 10 yr old son who is into astronomy and he is set on seeing a comet. When will the next "nice-size" comet very visible to the naked eye pass the sun? Thanks in advance. Lisa

Has the voyager craft left the solar system yet? and do they still recieve pictures from it?
Is it actually dark in space when your far from the sun and out of the solar system? I know there are stars and all, but I see pictures of planets and stuff, and they look pitch black on the other side of the planet that's not getting light from the sun..idk >_< help me out here! I'm just asking out of curiosity :P
How far is the illustration of our solar system right? My kid just asked me this: he seems very excited that the planets are so close together and all the asteroids bunched up close. Of course the picture is two covers long, but in reality what sort of distances are we looking at?
There are 3 new planets in the solar system do you think this is? Where Obama's people live? Do you think we are just now getting pictures of them because Obama got in? Is he really the anti-christ? Are we all going to die? http://www.cnn.com/2008/TECH/space/11/13/new.planets/?iref=mpstoryview Should I stop drinking margaritas? Do you think we will finally learn about area 51?
How come Hubble can take so many pictures of everything else but other planets from other systems? What is the logical reason behind this? I can NEVER find any pictures of other planets besides our solar system. PS can you also find me clear pictures of other planets? ...Wow i completely forgot all about that concept.
how can we see venus and mercury in night sky- slightly confusing? at night time how can we see venus and mercury ? in solar system pictures, all the other planets lay beyond (behind ) earth so when it gets dark we can see them. but venus and mercury lay in front of earth (near sun side) how is it possible for us to see it at night?
Neximage solar system camera (CCD camera)? My dad is going to buy me a Neximage Solar System(CCD camera), but is it worth for astrophotography. And can i see some pictures taken with your Neximage Solar system. Is it worth buying it?
What is the best telescope and camera to take space pictures with? I am interesting in purchasing a telescope and camera combo that I can use to take nice, clear quality pictures of the moon, sun, space, solar system, etc. What is the best model to get that is affordable yet has the ability to zoom in good?
My dad is wanting to know the current (November 2008) location of the planets in the solar system.? I have been looking on the internet but cannot find a picture or information really about this topic, everything is from older dates. Does anyone know a good website or where I could find this information?
articles on solar system? details about all planets present as on the report of nasa today details of each planet planet climatic condition planet atmosphere planets mass planets humidity planets position in solar system with diagram or picture
Do you ever wonder if our solar system is merely a much larger model of how atomic particles interact? i'm talking about earth revolving around the sun, which revolves around the center of the galaxy, which revolves around the center of... when we look down at electrons revolving around a nucleus, how do we know that a "larger being" isn't doing the same thing to us? are we living in a microscopic system? what do you think the bigger picture is?
solar system volcanoes? how does this sound? anything interesting people would like to know besides what I have already? interesting tidbit to share? my piece i'm writing.. I've seen news and pictures of other worlds of our solar system like Io or Enceladus with volcanic seen in space do not recall ones from Earth. Dr. Erik Klemetti is a volcano guy who has the latest on the newest picture from space . Made me think of all the volcanoes you can find around the other planets and their moons. Volcanoes are generally found where tectonic plates are diverging or converging Volcanoescan be caused by “mantle plumes”. These so-called “hotspots” , for example at Hawaii, can occur far from plate boundaries. Hotspot volcanoes are also found elsewhere in the solar system, especially on rocky planets and moons. Enceladus is known to be a frozen world , frozen worlds have plate tectonics ? Enceladus ice tectonics. The frozen moon of Saturn has crusty cracked ice; astronomers have seen the outlines and movement of ice continents .
Why no color pictures taken by sattelites? Why is there no color pictures taken of planets out in the solar system by sattelites. What gives. They are only black and white. Why isnt there any videos also?
Ok so tomorrow Aliens from a distant solar system come to Earth to befriend us, how would you feel having . .? Aliens walking around your town/city talking pictures of you and asking you questions? Yes i'm aware that this will most likely never come to pass, but hypothetically lets say it did happen, how would you respond?
Solar system including the asteroid belt and the comets? Could you name all of them or send a link to a good picture? It's a school project and I really need some help. (P.S. I'm in 6th grade) Okay. Here's what i need- comets outer planets pluto neptune uranus jupiter smallest planet largest planet asteroid belt inner planets mars earth venus mercury the sun
where can i find websites with short info for the solar system.? it is a science project. i need the websites with short info about the solar system. i don't need the website for pictures. it is about the nine planets. i need it by next week, or as early as possible.
Part I - Study of The solar system what doe this ayat mean (verse) to you? The Question (Submitted February 28, 1997) I wonder if you could tell me exactly what the VAN ALLEN BELT is and how much radiation does it contain, ie how many rems of radiation are there out there? Plus, what protection would organic life need to be protected from this radiation? Surat Yunus (Jonah): "Until when the earth puts on its golden raiment and it becomes adorned, and its people think that they are masters of it, Our command comes to it, by night or by day." There could be no better and clearer expression than this one which describes the future of humanity on earth. Was not this verse which gave prior information of the coming event of the dawn of civilization? Actually, it was the most true picture given beforehand of the landmarks of civilization, its merits and beauties and the different shapes it takes in different parts of the world. This Quranic verse gives us an idea about the enormous power of science which Man has begun using on earth, to exercise control over space, to subdue rivers and oceans and to dynamite hills and hillocks.
I know we're not on a 2-D plane...so what is above and below us (earth/the solar system)? I've always wondered this. Forgive me if I don't articulate it well enough. When we see pictures from telescopes and satellites and such, what direction are they facing? Are they facing out (like towards pluto) like I assume? Because if they are, then that leads me to wonder what stars/planets/galaxies exist above and below the plane of our solar system. Do astronomers investigate this? I mean, do we have a 3-D model of the universe in progress according to all of the pictures we have taken, or is the model more 2-D? Thanks!
Which of the moons in our solar system is nicknamed "The Death Star" for its large crater on its far side? I'm, pretty sure it is one of the gas giant moons, but I cannot remember which one. First with name and link, especially to a picture gets the ten.Thanks.
Does the Edge of the Solar System Look Like? Ask Voyager.? What Does the Edge of the Solar System Look Like? Ask Voyager. 11.05.03 Voyager is reaching the edge of the solar system. This is no Christopher Columbus false call, mind you. Eight billion miles from the Sun, Voyager's 26-year journey has made it the farthest-reaching spacecraft in the solar system and it is about to set a new record. All of the planets and objects within our solar system are surrounded by a sort-of bubble created by supersonic wind from the Sun. The spacecraft that first laid its robotic eyes on Jupiter and Saturn, is about to burst through that bubble, or may have already, according to some scientists. This still shows the locations of Voyager 1 & 2 Voyager 1 is traveling faster, reaching the termination shock sooner. The dramatic orange border to the left represents the bow shock, a theoretical area created as interstellar gas runs into the solar atmosphere. The location of the termination shock, or the boundary into the area where interstellar gas and solar wind start to mix, has been a mystery to scientists because it moves with regard to the power of the solar wind. Click on the image for movie. Also avail: color print-resolution & other movie formats or black & white high res. Credit: NASA "There has to be a sense of wonder in that this is the first manmade object that is touching interstellar space and this has never happened," said Dr. Tom Krimigis of the Applied Physics Laboratory (APL), Johns Hopkins University. "We're getting out of the protective cocoon of the Sun and this clearly marks a milestone in humanity's knowledge of our environment." It makes sense that the Voyager mission, consisting of two identical spacecraft launched in the heady robotic exploration era of the 1970s should be the farthest traveled manmade objects ever, nearly four billion miles from Pluto's orbit. Voyager 1 provided the first views of volcanoes outside of Earth on one of Jupiter's moon, Io, as well as close-ups of Saturn's rings and evidence of a ring around Jupiter in 1979. Voyager 2 provided the very first look at Uranus and Neptune in 1986 and 1989, respectively. Also significant, both are appointed planetary ambassadors - they each carry a 12-inch gold-plated copper disk containing sounds and images selected to portray the culture and diversity of Earth and meant to be played by an alien form of life that may encounter Voyager.0 Where's the Edge? Christopher Columbus had to sail the high seas to prove the world was round; how are scientists so certain a bubble blown by the solar wind surrounds us? Scientists call the murky region to the left of the Voyager trajectory in the image the heliosheath, because everything within it is influenced by the Sun ('helio' in Greek). What's out there at the boundaries of our solar system? Starting out at a view of our Milky Way galaxy, the orange gas in the animation represents the interstellar medium. The bow shock is created because the heliosphere is moving through like a boat through the water, crashing through the interstellar gases. The bow shock in front of the moving heliosphere is similar to the one observed by the Hubble Space Telescope. Click for animation. Credit: NASA The heliopause is the last boundary of that region where interstellar space, or matter from other stars, takes over as the ruler of the roost. Voyager isn't expected to reach the area for another 20 years. Entering the fluid region known as the heliosheath, past the theoretical boundary of the 'termination shock,' however, marks the first step toward that ultimate goal. The heliosheath represents a mixing bowl-region in which smaller amounts of solar wind mix with gas from outside our solar system. NASA Scientist Dr. Eric Christian imagines the theoretical boundary looks a lot like the water that bounces off a plate in the sink. It's not a defined straight (or round) line, but more fluid so the boundary moves a little bit. This movement has been a problem for researchers. It's very hard to know when Voyager has crossed the line - in fact, two science teams are lining up right now with different interpretations of unusual readings in their data stream from the spacecraft. Left: video of water running on a plate: the first border formed is like the termination shock and the water between the shock and the rim is the heliosheath. Water runs out toward the rim and then rushes back, similar to solar wind and indeed the reason scientists know the boundaries exist. Like the heliopause, once the water runs off the rim, it's out in the sink, or in this case, interstellar space. Credit: NASA/ESA. Right: solar wind raging into space as seen by the spacecraft SOHO after the solar storms of October 28. Credit: NASA/ESA. The European Space Agency has more on solar wind. And then there are the implications of this discovery. Voyager scientists are about to re-write a lot of textbooks and update a lot of theories. As Dr. Krimigis said, "the models that predict what the Sun and Voyager do are very crude." Uncharted Territory Both Dr. Frank McDonald of the University of Maryland and Dr. Krimigis have spent the better part of their careers tracking the fascinating adventure that has been the Voyager mission. And they represent the two opposing sides to this new controversy. In August 2002, Voyager scientists saw data that they had never seen before. Namely a large amount of low-energy particles flowing away from the Sun. The APL group interpreted this as the energy from the Sun reaching a dead end in this particular area. "All models and theories have been telling us that's where the edge of the solar system begins to feel the pressure from the interstellar space," said Dr. Krimigis. "When you're sitting on the beach, depending on the wind, the waves can become very strong and blow over you, and at other times you're perfectly dry. Solar wind blows hot and cold - when hot, it [washes over Voyager] and when it's cold it retreats." The Voyager 1 and 2 spacecraft are identical with different flight paths. Voyager 2 was actually launched first, on August 20, 1977; Voyager 1 was launched September 5. Both are about 8 billion miles from the Sun, but Voyager 1 is traveling at a speed of 3.6 AU per year while Voyager 2 is speeding along at about 3.3 AU per year. One 'AU' equals the distance between the Sun and Earth, or 93 million miles. Credit: NASA This strange data appeared from August through February, convincing the APL team that for six months Voyager had entered into the heliosheath. In February, it was as if the heliosheath retreated like water moving back toward the ocean at the beach, and Voyager was back within the solar wind. Meanwhile Dr. McDonald's team analyzed data from their instruments and concluded that they had merely rubbed against the boundary of the termination shock, but had not entered it. While both groups are uncertain what happened for those six months, they are both convinced that Voyager is currently back within the bubble of the solar wind, and will be crossing that termination shock either again in the next year, or for the first time. "We say we're just in the suburbs approaching the termination shock. They would say we're downtown, we're there," said Dr. McDonald. A Great Educated Guess Scientists are basing their theories on examples of this termination shock phenomenon they have seen before. The Hubble Space Telescope snapped a picture of a bow shock created as the wind from a star more powerful than that of our Sun's collided with a young star in the nearby Orion Nebula. As the fast stellar wind ran into slow moving gas, a shock front was formed, like the wave created when a boat moves through water. The Hubble Space Telescope imaged this view in February 1995. The arcing, graceful structure is actually a bow shock about half a light-year across, created from the wind from the star L.L. Orionis colliding with the Orion Nebula flow. For more information on this image, see HubbleSite. Click on the image for a very large version. Credit: NASA, The Hubble Heritage Team (STScI/AURA) Unfortunately, the instrument on Voyager 1 that measures solar wind has stopped working. A few of the remaining instruments have tried to pick up the slack, but that makes for a bit more guesswork and legwork on the part of scientists to prove their case. The excitement resulting from the controversy is inspiring the science community and the many people who continue to be fascinated by Voyager's journey. It also provides a great example of the uncertainty scientists deal with on a daily basis as they create theories, and then modify them again and again. In the meantime, as Dr. McDonald put it, "We keep making new discoveries, going places no one has ever been before." And isn't that the point of exploration? Why can't the Hubble telescope take close and clear pictures of Pluto but can of galaxies? I've always seen pictures of far away galaxies and other further objects outside of our solar system but I've never seen an up close image of Pluto or its neighbor, Charon...
I'm looking for photoshop help for a graphic design project? i want to create a solar system picture but i want it to be made of quilted objects and make it a children's illustration. If anyone has ever played yoshi's story on Nintendo64 (http://www.emunova.net/img/tests/1104.jpg), i want it to have the style of that environment. is there any way to accomplish this in photoshop with planets?
Where is our Solar System located in the galaxy? Can you show me a picture, please?
How can we take pictures of the Milky Way galaxy (including our Sun in it)? If the furthest man-made object is only at the edge of the solar system? Do they reflect it off something? Or are all the pictures "artist impressions"?
the other day on the TV they where talking about some old civilisation that painted the solar system on a rock I can't find that picture anywhere.... any ideas? thx still nothing... anyway, I have only seen the last 2 minutes of the documentary and it was not the Egyptians nor the Aztecs, maybe Babylonians. It was not very accurate and it had 10 planets but it did look interesting... ohh... and it might have been in a cave or something not on a piece of rock... thx again the thing did look prehistoric so...
how are pictures taken from 10 million miles away from earth? i keep seeing picture from thousands of miles away from earth like of the solar system and wat not wondering if anyone knows how these are taken i shud of clarified more really erm well i saw this on some site and thats what i mean really how are the pictures at the start taken http://micro.magnet.fsu.edu/primer/java/scienceopticsu/powersof10/index.html
Solar system poster ideas? I feel like my poster is bare, i have short summary and pictures of every planet, but i want another section please help ASAP!
some one please help......... what was the first space probe to leave the solar system.? it carries a picture of the sun and the nine planets as well as the pictures of a man and a woman in case other intelligent beings find it.
Have been any pictures taken from planet explosion so far? A massive collision is probably the easiest and most likely. Two planets colliding could break both apart, splashing planetary material out across the solar system. Another possibility would be for a very large ball of antimatter to strike a planet. That would create a marvelous explosion--a sufficiently large mass of antimatter could blow a planet apart.
If we cannot see the invisible world how possible to know if the pictures of heaven and earth are true? Well whatever/Whoever create the univers is miracle! just studying oxygen is alot to learn, and talking about the solar system is too advance. Univerd is great An example of this is the story of the blind men and the elephant: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/blind_men_a... In the story a group of blind men (or men in the dark) touch an elephant to learn what it's like. Each man describes a completely different creature, as one touches the tail, another touches the trunk, another touches the ears, etc. Each touches only one body part. "They then compare notes on what they felt, and learn they are in complete disagreement. The story is used to indicate that reality may be viewed differently depending upon one's perspective, showing how absolute truths may be relative", and how deceptive our view of "reality" can be. Each person paints their picture of reality with a brush dipped in the pigments of the past. — Jerry Andrus (Skeptical Inquirer, March/April ’95, p.7) Everyone takes the limits of his own vision for the limits of the world. — Arthur Schopenhauer
What is the size and location of planets in relation to our sun? I need a picture of the solar system, true to size and distance from each other and the sun.
Need a website of pictures of the constellation Orion in the North nebulae? Job in the Bible speaks about an "empty space" (Job 26:7).Although the Heavens are filled with stars where ever the telescope can reach,it seems that behind the North star there is an empty space.for that reason it has been suggested that this could be the third heaven. One of the most inspiring and thrilling of recent disclosures to astronomers is that there is a great empty space in the North in the Nebulae of the constillation Orion.A heavenly cavern so gigantic that the mind of man cannot even comprehend and so brilliantly beautiful that words cannot adequately describe it.What has been found,Job wrote about;"He stretched out the north over the empty place..."(Job 26:7).All astronomers agree there is a huge opening over the constellation Orion which is perhaps more than 16 trillion,740 billion miles in diameter. This opening is 90,000 times as wide as our earth's orbital path. However, past it's size is it's beauty. Its colors are unlike any here on earth. The photographs (I'm looking for) of its opening reveal the interior of a cavern so great that our entire solar system would be lost in it.The interior is like that of light shining and glowing behind the clear walls of ivory and pearl, studded with millions of diamonds like shining stars. There must be some reason why all this grandeur is lavished on one area in the Heavens. They give the appearance of a pavement of starry sand.Astronomers although not religious, say they feel like they are in some almighty presence.
Solar System Questions...? 1. If we were to terraform Mars to the extent it was Earth just with a different landscape, what would the tides be like since Mars has two moons. 2. As far as I know Mars has two moons that are thought to be captured asteroids. Are these moons spheres like our moon? I can't really tell but if they aren't why aren't they. If our moon is a sphere how come there's isn't? (link for picture) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moons_of_Mars 3. If we were to colonize Venus since it is similar to Earth as well would we have to put pumps on the surface as well like Mars but pump things into the air that deplete the atmosphere instead? If yes then what would we pump. 4. How would we colonize Venus and Mars in the first place and then terraform them? 5. Is it possible to make an atmosphere artificially so we could put one on the moon and colonize it or colonize Mars' moons and alter Venus and Mars' atmospheres? 6. Could we send one of Mars moons to Venus to make them both more Earth like? I will post more questions as details. Thanks for answering I love space and want to learn more about it. 7. Would it be possible to move the planets Mars and Venus into an orbit like Earths? For example if we were to place giant thrusters on the planet to alter it's speed of rotation to change it's day, change it's axis to change the effects of seasons, and change the speed of the orbit around the sun to change it's year? (I know these questions are out there but it doesn't hurt to ask right?) 8. If we were to colonize the moon and terraform it like Mars and Venus how would the days work? Wouldn't Earth cast a shadow over it altering the day/night cycle? 9. If we were to somehow terraform the planets what would we do with the other life here on Earth? Would we bring a bunch of every species to the newly terraformed planet to make it seem like a new Earth completely? I think we need the life around us because they are things that make this world amazing. O.k last question, I think... 10. Would we one day end up genetically altering ourselves to better fit climates of other planets? In other words making us into aliens to live on a planet like Pluto without terraforming and without any other life support such as pressure suits. 11. How did the moons Titan and Eurepa became spheres then? They couldn't have bashed into Saturn and Jupiter...
Do you believe the world will end in 2012? The Mayan calendar is remarkably accurate, especially since it was designed by a civilization that lived far before the Greeks, Romans, or even Egyptians started recording time. Their calendar ends in 2012. The Mayans also drew a picture of the solar system thousands of years before the rest of the world knew the earth was round. Their solar system had a 10th planet. Some scientist call this planet X. It is supposed to orbit every 3600 years bringing devastation and possibly an end to our civilization. What do you think?
Astronomy pictures? I am really into astronomy but i always wondered how they get the pictures they have. Some are infered and are horrible pixilated pictures that are just dull then they have some blurry pictures of stuff in our solar system. Then they have amazing pictures that are just crazy! Like star clusters, nubulas, galaxies.... but then we d on't have very many images of pluto... -How do they get pictures of galaxies and thousands of stars? -Why can't they get a great picture of neptune or pluto if they can of galaxies? -Are most pictures just digitaly made -Are they pieced together? Please write somewhere in your answer if you have any prior knowlege about astronomy or are educated in it. I don't mind input i just don't want to be told something thats completely off and an un-educated guess I understand hubble can take pictures, i just don't no what else does.....and again why can't the hubble get pictures of close up like pluto! and how do we have a picture of ourselves????!!?!? (milky way)
Has anyone heard of this theory/system of beliefs? It was noted to me in high school that the overall shape of our solar system very much resembles the structure of an atom. Taking this information, one could(at an almost incomprehensible level) speed up the motion of the solar system to the point where we can picture it moving as an atom does on Earth and at the same time "zoom out" of this proposed atom to view it as a part of a larger organism. This organism could possibly be "god". Time is basically relative here, so the fact that God always was and always is only seems that way because its so long of a time it is incomprehensible to us humans. Again, this is why we cannot understand God. So just as we are made up of cosmic dust and atoms, god is made of us(the cosmic dust) and atoms(the solar system). I know this is tough to fit into a little paragraph and obviously there is much more to it, but has anyone heard of a name for this belief or possibly a religion that believes this?
How far have space probes been sent? They haven't been out of our solar system, right? I always thought that real pictures of Pluto's surface etc have never been taken. Any ideas how far they have been though? Thanks. I heard somewhere we have lost contact with the Pioneer and Voyager and that they don't transmit data back. Is that true?
Why are all the planets round, yet so many asteroids are all different shapes? I just visited the Griffith Observatory in Los Angeles. They had models of all the planets in our solar system, and they were all nearly perfectly round. The tour guides said that they really are shaped that way, but could not adequately explain why. When I saw pictures of the asteroid belt, it showed many different shapes, so it just doesn't make sense that the planets are round balls, regardless of their size, and asteroids are not.
How to raise funds to a new Cultural ”Earth-Space” Project, and to find people who wish to help with that? On a few occasions, spaceships leaving our Solar System have brought with them "Greetings from Earth" - sounds & pictures from our planet . The Cosmica Awards builds on their legacy, inviting citizens around the world to elect their own symbols to represent us in the cosmos. Once a year, the winning entries will be presented at a prestigious ceremony in the UK. See: http://cosmica.org By doing this, we want to put the Beauty of Nature and Richness of Culture into the bigger scheme of things - widen our horizons while creating a positive foundation for planetary Peace and Progress. The project already enjoys wide moral support. But it also requires practical help with donation of UK office space, volunteer staffing, marketing and general financial support. We look for people who want to make their mark in History, or earn commission as fund-raisers, as well as businesses who wish to be recognized for their support of a noble cause. Anyone who knows how & where to find them?
Do you have posters or pictures on your bedroom walls? And if so, what is on them? I only have 2 posters at the moment - a UFO one and a solar system one - but I'm planning on more ;) I also have some photos of me as a little girl, and some very nice wooden carvings of 3 Dalmatian dogs, a cat and Tweety. :D
pictures of moons, strange drag marks on surface? sometimes when I look at satelite pictures of certain moons in our solar system I see that there are these strange features on the surface that look as if someone dragged something across the surface, these things are on very large scale and I always wondered what they were. Here is the best example I could find online.. although I used to have a book where it was way more apparent. What are the drag marks caused by? http://wanderingspace.net/wp-content/uploads/2006/11/miranda.jpg
How can astronomers show the entire picture of Milky way galaxy? How can astronomers show the entire picture of Milky way galaxy and pinpoint our solar system location in it. Seems to me you have to take that picture from far away and not inside milky way
Would it ever be a possibility to create something to travel farther? Do you think in our lifetime an invention of some type of space craft would be created to allow humans to see more than what we already do? I understand there are those Hubble space crafts and so many others that take pictures of outerspace but they're not very detailed. It would be great to see more in detail beyond our solar system what space looks like.
How do we really know what our galaxy looks like? How can we be 100% sure our universe is a "spiral" galaxy? We havent sent any type of satalite or shuttle even past our solar system, so how can we see a picture of our galaxy billions upon billions of miles away? I could understand how we can see other galaxies with the Hubble telescope, but how can we see our own within our galaxy?

Voyager and E.T? When the Voyager space craft was launched many years ago,it carried a golden disc containing a map of the solar system, some pictures, the voice of former President Jimmy Carter and some music, amongst other things. If you could launch another one today that,if intercepted by aliens, would stop them visiting us,what would you put on it? A map of...... A picture of..... The sound of........ The Music of............... The voice of.................. Any thoughts?
Does solar activity affect cloud cover? When the sun is active there is an increase in the suns magnetic field, electrically charged particles (solar wind), energy in the ultra violet spectrum can increase by 100%, and the energy in other spectrums will increase slightly. During The Little Ice Age, the sun entered a period of little or no solar activity called the Maunder Minimum. It was still shining brightly, but there were hardly any solar flares. The decreased solar wind allows more cosmic rays from outside the solar system to enter the atmosphere. Some scientists believe these cosmic rays help to seed clouds. We don't have any pictures from the Little Ice Age, but there are many paintings from artists of that era. Here are some links to landscape paintings, notice that the skies are overcast in most of the paintings: http://www.bouman102.info/avercamp_hendrick.htm http://www.postershop.ch/Brueghel-Piet/Brueghel-Piet-Jaeger-im-Schnee-2600217.html http://www.masterworksartgallery.com/BRUEGHEL-Pieter-the-Younger/BRUEGHEL-Pieter-the-Younger-Winter-Landscape-with-a-Bird-trap.html http://www.prints.co.nz/page/fine-art/PROD/Art_History/554 http://www.abcgallery.com/B/bruegel/pieter8.html http://www.canvaz.com/gallery/2130.htm http://www.masterworksartgallery.com/MEISSONIER-Jean-Louis-Ernest/MEISSONIER-Jean-Louis-Ernest-Napoleon-and-his-Staff.html http://www.ibiblio.org/wm/paint/auth/david/st-bernard.jpg The last 7 decades have been the highest solar activity in the past 8000 years. http://www.space.com/scienceastronomy/sunspot_record_041027.html Why would an artist create a dreary totally overcast sky? A blue sky is much prettier, especially with a white fluffy cloud hear and there. Many of the paintings contain blue pigments. There are at least a dozen paintings of people playing on the ice. They all have dreary overcast skys. I would think the artists would want to convey a blue sky in at least one or two renditions of these joyful moments. I've looked around at other paintings by Brueghel and he used blue in some of the others, especially in people's clothing and water. I also looked at Rembrandt's paintings from the same era. He didn't do a lot of landscapes, but the ones he did were also very cloudy or overcast. These paintings are made to look realistic and I believe they reflect the times. I know it is not proof, but it is not unreasonable to think that the paintings would resemble reality. There are several artists in my family and I know several more. When they paint something, they usually try to duplicate an object or a picture that they took. The first 14 paintings are by Hendrick Avercamp, the next 4 ar Brueghel, the next two are Meissonier and I believe the last one is Jacques-Louis. You might look a little more carefully. As far as bringing it goes, the CO2 crap is weak.
