When something comes out of nothing, is it always the Christian god that causes it? Is it always a miracle?
From quantum field theory, we know that something does indeed come from nothing: to wit, "vacuum fluctuations". In the simplest case, an electron, a positron and a photon can appear effectively out of nowhere, exist for a brief time and then annihilate, leaving no net creation of mass or energy. Experimental support for this sort of effect has been found from a number of different experiments. See, for instance, the Casimir effect ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Casimir_effect ).

- Yep.. God does very minor miracles whenever he's bored.
- Well yeah it has to be, what else could it be if not the Christian God???
- what should we do? praise science? the way in wich we observe the natural realm? no praise God that even illustrations of His magnificent power reside in our realm for the observing.
- ummm... no, you are sadly confused annihilation of a particle having mass would necessarily result in an energy gain. And where did the energy go in the place where they originally existed ? Please cite reproducible, empirical evidence of scientists creating positrons at will in large numbers. Appearances you are talking about are most likely result of tunneling. What is next for you? attack on Christans based on Bose-Einstein Condensate properties ? does it EVER bother you what Jews believe, or Muslims ? Or is it only Christians you like to piss on ? Casimir *effect* lol!!! why do you think *effect* appears in the name ? LOL!!!! if it is in WIKI it MUST be true, no ?
- There is no more nothing, everything that needed to be created has been created. Now, nothing comes from nothing. Nothing new is being created. If something seems to come from nowhere, it has to come from somewhere. I don't have allot of faith in Wikipedia, nor something a hand full of scientists believe to have proved. I do have faith in the Bible.
- Jeez Dreamstuff, Just convert already! It seems like you spend more time on the bible than most theologians! I am forced to question one part of your diatribe though, the part where you say "effectively out of no where" leads me to believe that the particles do indeed come from somewhere, maybe the physicists just haven't figured out where YET.
