How are complex numbers involved in quantum mechanics?

Could someone tell me how these mathematics are used in the quantum mecahnics field in some detail please?

1. QM is a wave theory of matter. Complex numbers are useful for any problem that involves waves since the oscillation can be described more simply by exp(iwt), than by the use of trig function. It's a significant convenience since mathematical operations simplify greatly.
