What is a career in Quantum Mechanics and Electromagnetism?

I need an example of a career in Quantum Mechanics and Electromagnetism. Please give me the name of the career and why it is involved in these areas. Thanks

  1. Just about all careers in QM are academic professorships of one sort or another. A very few are in industry as applied physics.
  2. The career is called 'physicist'. You'd need a PhD to do research in those fields, but the practical applications of the field are found everywhere. E&M runs everything in your house. QM runs your computer and the NMR machine at the hospital. With a PhD in physics, you could be hired to work in these fields by universities, national labs, and some private industry.
  3. You can go into physics, chemistry or engineering (materials and electrical).
