How to Introduce Astronomy and Science to Kids? Please suggest simple Fun Projects.?

Now that I am retired as an engineer, ( I am living in New Delhi India, and the kids I am talking to are, upto the age of 16, and interested in science, astronomy maths-etc.)and have plenty of time for kids in the neighbourhood, I am talking to them about science, astronomy and other topics of interest to them. These suggestions or answers will help me.

1. How about telling them about spectra, and how astronomers use spectra to figure out what stars are made out of, what the atmospheres of planets are made out of, and how far away galaxies are. You just need a prism or diffraction grating so you can break up the light. I don't know about India, but in the US, street lights are made of sodium lamps, and sodium has one big yellow line in it's spectrum. New headlights are made of mercury vapor, which has a green and purple spectrum.
